I don't only bake you know

My garden, spring 2012

I enjoy my garden.

I plant bulbs, seeds and plants
with a general idea of what I have
and am shocked and delighted
with what pops up
down the line.

I have always been the best all you
can eat buffet for the local bunny.
She's getting fluffier, and I have
learned to protect just those plants
that don't spread like crazy.

As it is now May, more things
are working their way to the surface.

I happen to have Meyer Lemons

As luck would have it (I really could have tied that into
yesterday's luck of the Irish), I actually purchased
Meyer Lemons this morning thinking that
a tart a citron may be in order.
But, upon a wee peek at my new favourite cooking blog
I found these delectable delights
I now have plans for at least a portion of my day.

On My Need to Bake

Those of you who may have followed this portion of my blogging life
know how I love to bake.
The truth is, I am unsure if it my love of baking, opposed to my
love of eating said baking is where my other passion lies.
(you know I love the smell of wet paint).
Painting results in few calorie consumption which my answer a question unspoken, but
that remains for another day.
The blog posting I am featuring today
has, perhaps, the most delicious photos of
a chocolate chip cookie I have ever seen, and I have seen more than a few.
Therefore, I share with you a link to the Crepesofwrath site, so, we may meet again
and discuss the wicked merits of Chef Torres cookies

I should be doing other things, but....

I wanted to share this with you
It's the Big Kahuna Breakfast
I had it in a diner on Maui the day after I did
the Maui marathon in 2009 (the hardest race I have EVER done)
It consists of pancakes, a whole fresh sliced banana, fresh pineapple, whipped cream, and toasted walnuts.
I almost cried it was so good and I was in desperate need of decadence.
The BEST breakfast ever.

Cutie Pies - as promised

I know they sorta bubbled up and are not "Martha Stewart" quality visually,
But Hey Now, do they not look juicy and delicious.
Well, that is how they taste too.
The baking is done, and the packages are wrapped
two dozen cherry and blueberry cutiepies
for the dessert auction at
Crosslands Church.
Proceeds to their mission this summer in Malawai.
I hope they are a hit and can raise lots of money.

Today's Baking

Two close friends of mine attend the same church. The church is holding a dessert auction tomorrow night to raise funds for a mission to Africa this summer. Though I am not a member of their church I love to bake and of course to support such a wonderful project. Here is my plan, Pie In A Jar. It's snowing here today and forecasted for tomorrow as well so I want something that will travel well, cute, different, and can be consumed will little difficulty at the auction. And well hey, they are just plain CUTE too.
As I have been getting out the ingredients today I discovered I am out of white sugar. HOW can that happen? Must of been a Christmas thing. So I am finalizing a list and heading out to make a few purchases. I'll post finished results tomorrow. Wish me luck.
