My Weekend Treat

We went for a little road trip on Saturday.
At one point we ended up in Orillia
at PATILERO (23 Mississaga St. East)
for a wee bite and a chance to sit
and watch the world go by.

If you are a regular reader of this blog
you will know that I have a bit of a 'thing'
for really good food and sweets in particular.
This perfect little wild blueberry pie
(I'll call it a pie rather than a really big tart)
was EXCELLENT.
Even in this photo you can see how
flakey the pastry was.
And, it was filled with blueberries, not filler
with a few berries tossed in for measure.

July, road trip, blueberries, good tunes on the car stereo.
A perfect weekend treat

It's daylilly season

My husband calls them
ditch weeds.

My mother refers to them as ditch lillies

They are both wrong

They are WONDERFUL

Baby Tomatoes

I'm planning an Italian inspired dinner in about 4 weeks from now

Have Green Thumb- Will travel

It's early July,
hot, hot, hot,
dry, dry, dry,

Diligence in the garden in key.

My planters get water and fertilizer (a light feeding) daily

Slow release into the beds

Hanging baskets in full sun
sometimes get watered twice daily

It's worth it in the long run

The colour feels good

It will feel even better in February

Saving sunshine for the long cold winter

This planter I picked up last week reduced to clear ($7)
It look so bad.
I've been feeding, watering and clipping
and I am starting to see what the colours will be

The results are worth the effort
